Vaccination schedule request for employees of the education sector and tender for air purifiers at SWLSB

At a special Council of Commissioners meeting held on December 17, 2020 the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board Council adopted two key resolutions in the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The first resolution mandates the director of the Material Resources department to proceed to a public call to tender for the purchase of approximately two hundred twenty air purifiers. “Even though the Minister of Education has mandated school boards and school service centers to conduct air quality tests, our Council wanted to ensure that we do everything in our power to provide an additional level of protection for our students and staff”, said Paolo Galati, Chairperson of the SWLSB.

At the same meeting, the Council of Commissioners also adopted a resolution to formally request that Premier, Mr. Legault, and Public Health authorities recognize and include all employees working in the education sector as part of the priority groups for the vaccination schedule. “Mr. Legault himself has recognized that schools are one of the two main areas where outbreaks are at a peak in the province. Protecting staff working with our students is fundamental in this fight against COVID-19”, Galati said.
